The Lagunitas Waldorf-Inspired Program is part of a unique public school in one of the nation’s most progressive school districts: the Lagunitas School District in San Geronimo, California. The Lagunitas School District is composed of two campuses, San Geronimo School (upper campus) and Lagunitas School (lower campus). The district is unique in that it offers parents a choice among three educational programs for elementary-aged children. The Waldorf-Inspired Program (kindergarten-fifth grade in 2011-2012) and the Open Classroom (kindergarten-sixth grade) are housed at the San Geronimo Campus. The Public Montessori Program (kindergarten-fifth grade) is located on the Lagunitas Campus. The Lagunitas Middle School, located on the lower campus, serves grades six through eight.

The Lagunitas Waldorf-Inspired Program is one of the few public Waldorf-Inspired educational opportunities in the U.S., and indeed the world.  Our program is based on the curriculum and methodologies originally researched by Dr. Rudolf Steiner and further developed in over 950 Waldorf and Waldorf-Inspired schools around the globe – the largest independent school movement in the world.  The teachers, parents, staff and friends who support the Lagunitas Waldorf-Inspired Program are proud to be part of this tradition and determined to maintain the vitality of Waldorf education in the public school setting, where it is accessible to all students regardless of family income. The Lagunitas Waldorf-Inspired Program offers a challenging and enriching curriculum designed to provide students with an outstanding liberal arts education, one which truly integrates all facets of learning: academic, emotional, physical, artistic, social, and ethical.
